The Competition to Open AI and the Big US AI Players

There is a self-interested reason for Sam Altman to show up in Congress and say I want to be regulated. If you convince them to regulate the industry, part of what you're doing is blocking out smaller players. It's much more likely that especially if open AI starts having to move more slowly because of US regulation that China is just going to move far, far ahead.
