Madeline Longelier's Relationship With Minnick

Madeline was slowly tiring of the star crossed lovers roleplay that she'd been carrying out with Emil and reality seemed to be setting in. She still signed her letters Mimi Longelier however and she often called herself Emil's wife where Minnick did eventually propose to Madeline in January of 1857 but she decided to keep it a secret for Emil. The two continued to write to each other several times a week in secret until Emil threatened to reveal their relationship to her family or to Minnick by sending them all his letters they had received. By breaking up with them she was making sure that he could have a happy life in another marriage where both partners could be happy there
