The Airline Drinking Water Rule

After our story ran, the EPA established a work group in early 2002 to evaluate the drinking water program. In 2011, the EPA issues the airline drinking water rule covering all airlines operating in the United States. The rules say an airline can clean their tanks as little as once a year, although then they have to test more frequently. This testing regimen is the grand result of Wall Street Journal's reporting.
