Is There a Need for a Mentoring Style?
In hebrew, distance or distance means that you maintain a kind of hierarchy between you and another person. Do you find the being a friend model more suitable for frica? I made that mistake early on, trying to be a friend and over sharing with my lab members. So i ended up not taking any student into my lab that first year. He said, sam, you've got to take somebody. It's terrible. You'll get a reputation for not taking students. And i said no, no, no. I that was a false start. I'm going to wait and en i've learnt something about my own leadership style.
