The more experiences that we have, the more honest and rich our understanding of the universe becomes. It'd be very easy for a scientist to restrict herself to only one tiny, little sub section of science - but wouldn't some of that information about the rest of the world at least potentially allow that daffodil scientist to do their job better? A friend who's in school to become a graphic designer right now has decided to close himself off from the rest of his life.
