The Purpose of a Research Lab
OpenAI is a research lab, but also has funding as a company. And we've seen open EI sort of more from this open-ended research into even more like a product company. I think the way to impact the world and to impact people is to build products. So if OpenAI had tried to productize in 2016 and wouldn't have worked, they would have shipped a product that didn't make any sense. There's a right time when the technology is ready for product.
