Is It Parody or Not?

A court case about parody has always stuck with me. The judge's determination was the person's competence, and whether they're good at narrative or should not be the deciding line if it's legal under the law. It is a really great thing to distinguish between that authors who are really good at things get away with a lot more in their work. But your skill as a writer, or as a story teller or things, has a lot of influence over these aspects of how something is viewed.
