Is This Evidence of Russian Military Learning?
I don't think it's any great evidence of Russian learning. This military that's turned up has shown itself systemically and culturally to be an organisation incapable of learning. They've shown us no evidence in the last few months that they are capable of really knitting together, a proper defense as they would need if they want to hold ground. It all depends on how they put this defence together. Just having a line of trenches on its own is not going to cut the mustard. Any defensive area needs to be covered by observation. There's no point in putting in obstacles like minefields or trenches when you're not watching it. So just a line of fortifications on minefields, something like
