The Stileagi - The Soviet Youth Culture

The Stileagi was a youth culture in the Soviet Union. They were anti-socially individualistic, unpatriotically-aaped western fashions and culturally ignorant or machella. The style evolved until it settled around a version of the British Teddy Boy, or Greece-era US-1950s rock and roll look. Some still argue with the children of higher party ranks,. but they publicly risked being different at a time when difference could be dangerous. On one hand, they were seen as attractive potential customers on the other group of hooligans, disrespectful of their elders, spoiled, lazy, immoral, entitled to everything.
