The Future of Democracy
Historians are really not able to offer great advice for the future it's always overtaken by events but if we're looking at broader trends which history can certainly point to then democracy is facing severe challenges from outside. We don't know what the future holds over the next decade or so some of these challenges might look very different to what they do today. There's every hope that over time we will see populism recede and democracy with its benefits and advantages as we've known them revitalize. I think we have to be careful of what we wish for is a message which I mentioned in the book when we're looking to the allure of populist leaders who seem to offer an instant or rapid
