The Armenian community of the Ottoman Empire was concentrated in three locations. They were scattered along many different towns in Anatolia and were nowhere a majority. There was no Armenian Hinterland other than the Russian Empire, which had come to dominate a large share of Armenian communities after 1878 with the Russia-Turkish War.
