The Hootman Abrolos Islands

The Hootman Abrolos Islands are a long chain of islands about 40 kilometers off the western coast of Australia. Their name comes from Portuguese, Avro-Ojos, or open eyes. The crew believed that they were in open ocean and then suddenly reef and islands were everywhere. More than 60 vessels are known to have been lost among them.
