Brent: I was able to realize that I had trauma bonding with my mother because we had kind of a common enemy. My grandfather who had raised me much of my childhood and was really abusive, physically abusive. And so that was like a trauma bond between us. In the back. Yeah. It's really powerful work. You would not really be reimbursed for this anyway, because I don't provide a diagnosis. But an intro intensive, which is how everybody starts with me, is $8,000. After that, people then sign up for sessions and they can do sessions weekly or biweekly to practice.
Today’s guest, Brent Charleton, is a true expert in "chair work". This remarkable experience, which is the culmination of a four-day journey, can be like the equivalent of six months of therapy accomplished in just one morning. He's licensed in psychotherapy as well as marriage and family therapy, but he’s certainly not your typical therapist. We discuss ways to increase your sense of worth, his thoughts on psychotherapy, and how to cope with Trauma.

- Reexamine my childhood in light of what I’ve learned in this conversation, namely that anything less than nurturing is shaming.
- Write down a list of all the times I remember being treated less than nurturingly by my primary caregivers as a child.
