Turkey has a tradition of dissent and free thinking, as William was saying. But social media has also become an area of some government influence. The authorities are acutely aware of the fact that a lot of particularly young people's opinions are formed on there. When Erdogan comes out and says something outrageous, it also sets the social media agenda because people get very angry about it. Turkish politics, Turkish news is a real roller coaster. The agenda changes 180 degrees almost by the day, by the week.
