The book is equal parts revelatory and completely obvious if you just look at the truth of your own experience. We think that if we just get better at doing things more quickly, we will create more time in our lives. As the saying goes, the reward for good time management is more work. I think what's going on there is that we are pursuing this notion, subconsciously, of a kind of perfect efficiency - which is also the desire to cheat death.
