Ally Gaddy is an aspiring public health official who's helping to bridge racial gaps in the system, a racial inequity. She says she was resentful of track and field during her freshman summer because it meant she couldn't work as hard at her research job. "Once you travel to a meet, you can't half way travel," she says.
Gabby Thomas became the second-fastest woman ever when she ran the 200m in 21.61 seconds at the 2021 US Olympic Team Trials. She then won two medals at the Tokyo Olympics. But her relationship with running isn't as straightforward as you might think, and competing interests have continually led Gabby to question whether running is the path she should be on.
