In some respects, I see it as kind of just a progression of, you know, we've had Snowflake on the landscape for a little while, Databricks as well. These are sort of an evolution and ... A lot of companies are going to want to in-house this and that's great. And then final piece is probably connectors. We very much have a goal of just being able to bring your own transformations over time in your own arbitrary languages.
Summary
Batch vs. streaming is a long running debate in the world of data integration and transformation. Proponents of the streaming paradigm argue that stream processing engines can easily handle batched workloads, but the reverse isn't true. The batch world has been the default for years because of the complexities of running a reliable streaming system at scale.
