A medical school is very expensive, especially depending on the region that you're doing it in. It's also unfair to pigeonhole all doctors as being very affluent. In the UK, we are the equivalent of residents or fellows for a very long time and during that period, you're not well paid. I would never dream of suggesting to a young doctor that they can't look for alternative sources of income.
