Shihi Theology - The Imams and the Quran
The pilgrimage to Qarbalah and Imam Hussein is by far the largest and most significant. One will visit the graves of the Imams as an important religious practice. From this the Shihis have developed in various ways that have differed from the proto-Sunis and later Sunis. The adoption of Muaytazalite theology means that they viewed God as a unified essence without various attributes as part of that essence but instead as identical to that essence. They have also often emphasized a certain level of esotericism and various doctrines about the Imams or other things are often initiatory and secretive in nature.
