"It's so easy to get sidetracked from doing what you love because someone anonymous person just keeps hitting you with some direct messages or some comments in your social media," he says. "That's part of the double edge of being able to say thank you and being able to build an audience on those platforms that authors couldn't have done back in 75, 85, 95, even 2005."
