Is There a Future for Language Learning?

There has definitely been a lot of great innovation on web and mobile apps for language learning over the last, say, five to ten years. You look at Assisted Readers. Then you've got Video, Lesson, and Facilitation, like Italki. These are services that act as a go-between, connecting students and teachers or conversation partners remotely. The reason why I'm highlighting this is not to be overly cynical, but because I think that the direction interface designers heading in says a lot about the way in which adult learning is regarded.
