We reject the premise that if you work less, you are more productive. But what's really important is how expensive this overwork is. The cost of burnout for cardiovascular disease and a whole host of other psychological and physical conditions outweighs the benefit of whatever extra hours we are putting in. Not working would include not reading email. Is that possible for the majority of people who are not leaders who can actually delegate down? Can you switch off and is keeping your eye on the work and what's happening, still considered work?
