She developed a technique during these years where she acted or really was interested in everyone else, but didn't answer any questions about herself. If a boy was complaining that he wasn't doing very well in a class, even if she was getting an A, she'd say, yeah, me too. That's when she was developing that breathy little girl voice you kind of associate with her later on in her life. It was not the voice that she went into college with, but it's the one she had when she left.
