NHS England - Is the NHS Going to Feel Pressured?
High rates of flu, persistent and high levels of COVID have put pressure on the NHS. This has combined with a time when time recare services and community services are also much more limited. That's why I've been working with the NHS leadership over the festive period to address delayed discharge - those patients who are fit to leave hospital but often stuck on the wards. We need to get more flow into the hospital system in order that the ambulances can speed up their hand over times and get people discharged. The question is how much worse this gets and how much more salience it gets from the general public.
