The Importance of Location Shooting in Entertainment
The author's former in-laws owned a prop rental house on Gower Street in Hollywood around the corner from Paramount, which was there for decades. And it made me realize that LA doesn't just have the studios and the talent and all the craftspeople. This is less important with CGI now, but in those days, LA also had all the stuff,. There was just an enormous amount of stuff that you needed to shoot a movie and TV shows that was available in places like my in-laws prop rental house. But what Georgia has done at great taxpayer expense is used location shooting as the leading edge to try to generate an entire economy that includes the craft workers and so forth.
