The Importance of Avatars
The central ideas that avatars are agents of another's consciousness and I think one novelty in the book is like developing avatar as a kind of analytical concept. One is able to inhabit another reality where one can accomplish new kinds of things. Be that second self a divinity or a what we might call a gaming elf or a pixie or a character. And those identifications can spill out into one's first life in ways that can be psychosycosocially beneficial. So coming to experience yourself as a god and having others except that identity is valid can provide the possess with more highly valued social status and prestige.
