Just Transition - The Energy Industry in South Africa
The idea of a Just Transition often is associated with coal miners and other fossil fuel workers. The United Nations estimates that 80 million jobs are at risk of being lost because of global warming by 2030. South Africa's plan to kickstart its transition from coal to renewable energy will need $46.5 billion US dollars. Those in the industry are beginning to worry about the fate of their jobs.
