Fixing up a house that you live in can be a fantastic financial idea. But i don't think it's going to work out financially unless you're going to be there for a long time, especially if you're hiring all the work done. I know several people very closely who this is what they do. They buy old houses, they fix em up, and then they rent them outr flip them. And they're very good at it. You can do it. It's just for most of us, is not something that we really want to do.
