Is My Choice About Where to Go on the Internet Obstacled?
In the US, basically net neutrality has governed the internet since its inception until 2017. But that's not a given as providers can see exactly what we are doing online and then take action based on that. So for example, my husband's grandmother couldn't call us on Skype, because her mobile phone providers was blocking online telephony on her mobile plan. And so in the US, the FCC right away said this is not compatible with how we think the internet should work.
