I think we were going back to Barry Poe's original concept of the space between the contested zones and the commons. And ultimately that was not like a game changer but sort of an incremental challenge that could be offset with other technologies. I do think that while we were right about those two mechanisms of sort of capitalism and balancing being dominant drivers, there are lots of times when states could choose sort of state interests or ideological or individual power interest above that which could still lead to cataclysmic events. It took France and Britain a long time to sort of get caught up to where they need to be in order to defend again from German aggression.
