The WGA and SAG want to increase basic minimum pay for their workers. Another reason why they are striking is also because of this issue of residuals, which is a concept that does require a bit of explanation. So technically when something is re-aired or re-run, especially a successful show, say things like Friends, that airs in so many countries across the world, long after it has wrapped. And unfortunately, the pay is just not keeping pace with inflation.
