Vespacean assigned Titus to seven ordinary eye consulships during his time in office. But Titus ensured that when he resigned from his consulships, the demission took over as Suffolk consul. While demission got absolutely nowhere with his father when it came to career advancement, he was able to get his way on private life. He warded off a plot hatched by Vespacean to marry him off to Titus' daughter to ensure the purity of the dynasty.
