Liberal Restrictions on Government Power
I would say that liberal restrictions on government power is a bit of a misnomer um I think what actually restricts government power is competing spheres of authority sure. The fact that you have the church and the nobility and the average person and the merchant class all with different and disparate interests working through representation inside that separation of power isn't monasterous checks and balances. Rousseau is right on this there's no point having a constitution unless it's inscribed on the heart of the people right?
