A lot of the recent work on the Mediterranean has Mediterranean Greeks talking about concepts like interactions and networks. Peter Kussai: How do concepts like that offer us a better understanding of what we're seeing in the archaeological record than something like acculturation? Yes, this term influence of acculturation is very much tied to this perspective of colonization being a good thing. And again, looking critically at the archaeological record and questioning our old concepts, we see that the reality was much more complex.
