Is That Not an Insane Religious Teaching?
I would extrapolate that what Susan's pastor father and other leaders around her were saying was, if you exhibit the desire to be one of the elect, that in itself is proof that God has chosen you. That seems so comforting to a child as opposed to, well, you might be elect, you might not be good luck. This is like old Calvinism rather than being like John Piper's new Calvinism. Right. And I also feel that telling a child, if you want to, if you Want to Be One Of The Chosen Seems Like A nicer thing because all children are going to have a desire to understand the thing that they are, that they are being taught.
