Zachary: When I think a lot about explicit instruction and how sometimes it might be poo poo'd in mathematics, I like to go back to more of not just thinking about how people learn math. So there's a really great book that came out recently by Paul Kirschner and Carl Hendrick called How Learning Happens. And they talk about how do people learn? Well, you as adults are often not just figuring it out on your own, but probably you're watching a YouTube video and then you're pausing and you're trying it again.
