The Benefits of Pre-Gibapentin in Neurosurgical Procedures

Pre-gabelin has greater bioavailability across a larger area of GI absorption. While they're well tolerated and sedation is the most common side effect there have been recent studies that show that high doses of gabapentin in naive patients combined with opioids increases your risk of respiratory depression. Local anesthetics i we've already talked about topical lidocaine patches that are very low risk but they cannot be directly put on the incision. New literature to suggest that intravenous lidocaine infusions may be beneficial in that perioperative setting.
