I don't like when certain free will philosophers or psychologists, cognitive scientists act as though they have claim on the real definition of free will. At the end of the day, it's humans that are defining this term. And I've been developing a model with my colleague, Colin DeYoung, on cybernetic free will and why that matters just as much matters more to humans than magic free will. Do we have the capacity to reach our goals? Are we able to choose between various options and make decisions that move us closer? Look, humans want to be able to know that they can do that,. And to them, I think that's a free will worth wanting.
