Is Gedre a Good Tool for Reverse Engineers?

The release of ida pro has been met with criticism from the reverse engineering community. The five million dollars fee to use ida pro is prohibitive for most people. Ida doesn't sell to just anybody yet, this is going to be freely available. i feel like anybody who would be using it to harm national security would already have the means to do it anyway.
