If your approach is neither the easy problem or tackling the hard problem, you call it the real problem. We can take the approach of trying to explain what makes them distinctive and get a lot further in understanding why unconscious experiences are the way they are. That's the real problem of consciousness. i think we'll make a lot more progress by addressing these aspects of consciousness somewhat separately.
