Meditation is a profoundly interesting thing to do for two reasons. It's an ego canceling encounter with, it's totally unforgiving art. You're spending basically every moment of your waking life having a conversation with yourself. And this conversation has a character that is mostly unhappy and produces negative emotions like anxiety and envy and shame. So you're actually no longer identified with the thoughts that would otherwise make you miserable.
