What About the Larger Masses and Classes of People Who Made the Revolution Possible

There were no gallop poles in the 17 hundreds. The better rough estimate is that about half of north american society was pro revolution, about one sixth was loyalist. So it was a smaller fraction and tended to be more elite, and about one third was neutral. In order for the revolution to be possible, it really needed a significant base of support - which depended on women who had to run homesteads, farmsteads, towns, local government. Also, it depended on the support of foreign allies, like france, and of foreign volunteers.
