In art school, where they try to teach one to do beautiful things, they all eventually find it's perfectly unteachable. The artist doesn't really know what constitutes beauty and he doesn't know this for exactly the same reason tht you and i cannot see our own heads and do not know how our brains work. Even the greatest neurologists don't know how the brain works, and they are the first people to admit it. It just happens. In the same way as you can move your fingers without knowing any physiology, you just do it. So in the same way, the artist manages to create the beautiful. And everybody studies bach to find out what the laws of harmony
