What Is the Command of the Old Despotisms?
This week's episode of Steepsace nine is about the cardassians. The show follows a leader who tries to force his way into power by telling him there are only four lights, not five. In 19 84, an argument between solhnitn and o'brien was over whether you can tell lies without being told them or if they have to be said in order for people to do so. And now we find out that both sides agree on one thing: Lies feed on violence; even the merest dissent vanishes when confronted with it.
