The Importance of Childhood

Many of these poems seem innocent and childlike on the surface, but there are discordant images lurking underneath. People warned me when you have a child, you're going to re-experience many of the things from your own childhood. For instance, I remember my first trip to Washington, D.C., where we are right now. And I remember my heart swelling when I stood at the base of his statue in the memorial.
