Mummies were deposited in objects was we sometimes just call them coffins but they're also known as sarcophagus or sarcophagi. That's a term that comes from Greek what does it mean and why are they called that? A sarcophagus by definition is stone. Now the reason it's called a flesh eater is when the Greeks came into Egypt and opened these sarcophagi and inside they saw a mummy. And the mummy had been desiccated by mummification and dehydrated.
