In 19 94, you couldn't go through four years of school in the late 19 eighties and early 19 nineties and not encounter freud or virginia wolf. We're pretty familiar with the bard as well as with walt whitman and emily dickinson and tolstoy and prust and joyce. Not much argument there. But if you have 26 good friends when you're in college, and you keep living for another 28 years, as some of us have been lucky enough to do, you'll hopefully make at least ten more friends.
