Is Murdoch More Radical Than Velen?
I think perhaps Murdoch sort of stops herself in some regard going that far, although she saw so much suffering herself when she was working in Europe at the end of the Second World War. But there is a sense in which Velen is more radical than Murdoch and as you say, Murdoch stops when Velen doesn't. And that's, as I mentioned earlier, in the idea of unselfing, which for Velen is a lot more radical than for Murdoch. That can raise questions morally about what do we do about self-protection, self-care. Do we have duties also to preserve ourselves?
