The Cronala Riots

Oma: It's hard to grow up having those kinds of thoughts injected into you from society. A lot of this book happens in the early two thousands. But also, really importantly, the cronala riots happen while jamel is still a teen ager. And so he faces that kind of belittlement on the basis of being arab and moslem and bisexual. Having been on the other side of it, there is a superficial joy in seeing it. But deeper than that is just this utterly sickening feeling.
