The Origins of Occult Practices in the Middle East
Some magical practices appear to be and were certainly interpreted as being condemned by the Quran itself. In other words, with the spread of Islam, we don't see a disappearance of occult or magical practices at all. Certain practices like animal sacrifice seems to have been basically entirely abandoned in the post-Islamic period. Others were simply reframed according to a new Islamic paradigm.
